If We Get Lucky

Deborah Grabien

Seems to me it's been too long a time
Since I left my imprint in the dust on the side of your truck
Seems like forever since we got down felt my back pressed into the ground
Too much time spent waiting on a stroke of luck.

It feels like forever since we hit that higher note
Let's make a little noise, we ain't bothering anyone
I've been missing how it used to be, show a little trust and follow me
'cause baby it's high time we had some fun.

So take a long deep breath and close your eyes
I may talk dirty but I don't tell lies
I'm keeping supper warm between my thighs
And if we get lucky, maybe the creek won't rise.

I've got a proposition, an offer you can't refuse
Let's drive on out to the back of beyond
And shake it right down to our shoes.
You raise hell, I'll raise the devil inside
No need to pick and choose
I'll bring the dynamite, you light the fuse
We'll make so much noise, we'll wind up on the Evening News.

I can't help thinking that we need a little barbecue
I want to feed some flames until they reach up to the clouds
I want to make steam, get sticky with sweat
A couple of hours that we'll never forget
You and me, getting dirty and getting loud

I've got this itch, why don't you reach right down and scratch
It's not like I'm slapping your face, demanding that you back down
I'm like a sad little dog sitting all alone
I need a whole lot of meat and a great big bone
Bring it on home to mama, let's torch this town.

So take a long deep breath and close your eyes
I may talk dirty but I don't tell lies
I'm keeping supper warm between my thighs
And if we get lucky, maybe the creek won't rise.
